Making a Will
One of the most important documents you will ever sign is your Will. It is estimated that 50% of Australians die without a Will causing unnecessary worry for their families.
Why should I make a Will?
If you do not make a binding Will, then your estate is distributed using a formula fixed by the Government. A Will ensures your assets are distributed in the way you intend after you die and gives your loved ones peace of mind at this stressful time.
What do I need to put in a Will?
- You should appoint someone to administer your estate. This person is known as your Executor.
- You nominate the persons or organizations you wish to benefit.
- You can appoint guardians for your children who are under 18 years.
- You can make your wishes known for your funeral.
- You can set up trust funds for beneficiaries who have special needs.
Who can make a Will?
Any person 18 years of age or older (or under 18 years if married) and of sound mind can make a Will.
